KREMS, AUSTRIA, October 30, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Metadynea Austria GmbH, owned by Metafrax Group and controlled by businessman Mr. Seyfeddin Roustamov, became the exclusive producer of the ecologically friendly EDA-DOPO flame retardants, intended to produce polyurethane foams with high fire safety class. The product is developed by the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (EMPA).
Thanks to methods developed by the EMPA chemists and Metadynea specialists, now it is possible to arrange cost efficient production of flame retardants that will be widely applied for polyurethane foams in furniture production.
Metadynea Austria GmbH will start serial production of EDA-DOPO flame retardants. The important part of the technological process is the new ecological synthesis method, also applicable for other DOPO derivatives.
If market shows positive response, FoamPartner Group will start production of fire-protected polyurethane foams for mattresses and furniture using EDA-DOPO as flame retardant. Upon receipt of the patent in Summer 2017, Metadynea Austria GmbH has produced up to now 1.5 tons of flame retardants.
According to specialists in the Company, it’s the first step in the transfer from halogen-containing flame retardants, which produce toxic fumes in case of fire. When using the EDA-DOPO agents, a derivative from DOPO (9,10-Dihydro-10-Oxa-Phosphaphenanthreneoxide), no such toxins are occurring at high temperature.
Foam materials, processed with EDA-DOPO agents, are in production already. They are presently not on sale because the substance has to pass compulsory certification in accordance with the requirements of European REACH registration. First samples are currently being tested.
