YEREVAN. – The newly elected Armenian parliament will not have a real opposition, Sasna Tsrer party candidate, political scientist Stepan Grigoryan told reporters on Wednesday.

According to him, Prosperous Armenia Party or Bright Armenia party are only formal opposition

“Under the parliamentary system of government, a political force that is not part of the coalition with the ruling party is opposition,” he said adding that under the parliamentary system of government, it is generally worth talking about alternative power than about the opposition.

According to him, it was impossible to demand any serious results from the My Step bloc, since it was only a movement, but after the elections and the formation of a stable majority in the parliament, the newly elected Government should proceed to real action.

“The further level of the political force’s legitimacy led by Nikol Pashinyan will depend on the efficiency of the Government’s work, given the fact that many members of his team have lack of administrative experience,” he said.

He added that now we can expect specific positions on foreign policy issues, including the relations with Iran amid US sanctions.
