Agra forensic lab scientist added in over 30 WhatsApp porn groups, one held

AGRA: Agra police arrested a college student from Chandauli district after he allegedly added a senior scientist of the Forensic Science Laboratory in scores of WhatsApp groups which shared explicit content including child porn.
The matter came to the light after the complainant lodged an FIR in Rakabganj police station in this regard.
The arrested accused has beem identified as Shivendra Gupta (19), a resident of Sarai village under the Chakia police jurisdiction.

In the FIR, the scientist, whose identity is being withheld with TOI, claimed: “For the past few months, an unknown person have been adding my contact number in various WhatsApp groups, on which members share porn. This gross act has damaged my reputation in the society.”
Speaking to TOI, Rakabganj SHO Vivek Trivedi said, “The scientist was being harassed since April. Each time he exited from group, somebody would add his number in group. During the probe, we found that WhatsApp groups had members from Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and even from Pakistan. Some of the groups were even managed by mobile numbers issued from Pakistan. There were over 30 groups.”
The surveillance cell of the Agra police managed to identify Shivendar Gupta, who was also admin of various groups in which the scientist's number was added.

He said, “Initially it was Shivendra Gupta who started adding scientist’s number in various groups sharing porn, but later the menace aggravated after Pakistan-based users started adding his number to harass him. During the interrogation, Shivendra claimed, that he didn’t knew the scientist and was not part of any porn group, but phone recovered from his possession nailed his lie.”
A police source claimed that a rival of FSL scientist contacted Shivendra Gupta and took the screenshots of the group members and explicit content. He later send those screenshots to his seniors in Lucknow FSL, after which the scientist was sent back to Agra. The victim scientist was on training period since 2016 in Lucknow, but was sent back to Agra in July month.
Commenting on the matter, Agra FSL director, AK Mittal said, “The scientist was being harassed by unknown person and Agra police is investigating the matter.”
