It has been a good few days for Darko Gyabi and the on-loan Plymouth Argyle midfielder will hope that continues against Derby County in the Championship relegation six-pointer at Home Park tomorrow.

Gyabi played the whole game as the Pilgrims finally got their first away league win of the season when they beat Portsmouth 2-1 at Fratton Park. It also saw the 21-year-old make his 50th appearance for the club over his two spells with them on loan from Leeds United.

The midfielder was booked during the 11 minutes of added time played by referee Matt Donohue at the end of the match against Portsmouth, which took his total of yellow cards in the Championship this season to nine.

Players who are cautioned 10 times in EFL league games during a season usually have to serve a two-match suspension but there is a cut-off point after each club have played their 37th match.

Argyle's victory over Portsmouth was their 37th match so should Gyabi go on to receive a 10th yellow card over the rest of the campaign he will not be banned.

There was more good news for Gyabi with his inclusion in the England Euro Elite League (Under-20s) squad for games against Portugal and Switzerland later this month.

Gyabi was promoted to the England under-21s squad during the last international break in November after a series of injuries, and played as a substitute in draws against Spain and the Netherlands.

Now he is back at under-20 level, with the Young Lions playing away to Portugal in Leiria on Friday, March 21 in their latest Euro Elite League, and then taking on Switzerland in a friendly international at the Marbella Football Centre in Spain on Monday, March 24.

The squad also includes midfielder Nico O'Reilly, who scored two of Manchester City's goals as they came from behind against an Argyle side which featured Gyabi to beat them 3-1 in the Emirates FA Cup fifth round at the Etihad Stadium on March 1.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Argyle attacker Freddie Issaka has been named in the Wales squad for three UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualifiers.

Wales are hosting Group 7 of the Elite Round of qualifying and will start by playing England in Bangor on Wednesday, March 19. They will then play twice in Rhyl, first against Portugal on Saturday, March 22 and then Turkey on Tuesday, March 25.

The seven Elite Round group winners will join hosts Romania at the European Under-19 Championship finals that will take place in June.
