A list of the most in-demand jobs in South Wales right now reveal roles in a host of sectors.

They include: Payroll Specialists, Building Surveyors, Business Analysts, Data Scientists, Information Security Analysts, Quantity Surveyors, Software Developers, Manufacturing Specialists, Qualified Accountants, Qualified Teachers, HR Generalists and Java Developers. Java developers are in particular demand in Swansea.

“According to data from our Hays Salary & Recruiting Trends 2018 guide, over half (54%) of employees in Wales will be looking for new opportunities this year.

“It’s clear from looking at our top list of jobs for South Wales that professionals working within the digital technology, finance, construction and manufacturing industries can expect a positive outlook for 2018 in terms of salaries and job opportunities.

“We’re seeing continued investment in these areas across the region. High on employers’ wish lists is candidates with experience in these areas, a willingness to work hard and the ability get some great results.

“However, that’s not to say that professionals outside of this list can’t expect to find good opportunities across South Wales and further – it will vary according to location in the region and industry so it is important to understand what your own situation is. They have roles starting in March, May and July of this year.

Trainee Air Traffic Controller

Becoming an air traffic controller is one of the most highly paid jobs that you don’t need to have related qualifications for.

All the training takes place on the job. National Air Traffic Services (NATS) are looking for new trainee recruits from all of the UK.

According to research during the initial training you could earn around £13,000, but once training is completed you could be on £32k per year, which would rise up to £51k over the following years.

Some senior controllers can earn over £100,000.

Of course as an air traffic controller you would have to work a shift pattern that could involve night work.

To be eligible you have to have at least five GCSE’s with at least Cs in English and Maths.

You must also be in good physical condition and have good vision.

Another role that could get you out of the office and into the fresh air.

Swansea Council are on the hunt for two Estate Caretakers.

The potential candidates would be ensuring the council estates are clean and safe for residents and visitors.

The tasks may included picking up rubbish and even disposing of needles safely, but there are no formal qualifications needed for the post, just a high level of pride in your work and the ability to drive.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is aged between 16 and 24 and currently unemployed.
