Kyrgyzstan starts winter recording of wild animals

Bishkek, Dec.6, 2019. /Kabar/. Employees of the Department for the Conservation of Biodiversity and Specially Protected Natural Areas of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic (SAEPF) have begun to conduct winter recording of wild animals in all regions of Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Agency said Friday.

For the purpose of comprehensive recording of wild animals and birds, employees of the SAEPF, Ilbirs, Pantera Public Foundations, scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic and local hunters were involved.

Recording is carried out for the main hunting species of wild animals, as well as rare and endangered species of animals listed in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan.

The works are conducted in the hunting grounds and in the territories of specially protected natural areas with the use of GPS-navigators, which should help in obtaining accurate and reliable data when observing wildlife.

More than 400 people were involved in the recording. Basically, the event is conducted in mountainous conditions over 3000-4000 meters above sea level at minus 30 to 40 degrees Celsius.

All field work is carried out in accordance with the schedule, approved by Mirslav Amankulov, Director of SAEPF.
